The Arvida Good Friend Living Well Centre aims to bring older people together in a variety of ways. For fitness, relaxation, health services, good food, events and activities. Everyone is welcome at the centre!

So you can get the most out of the centre, we also have several membership options

Natter Café

Catching up with friends for a delicious breakfast, brunch or lunch is as simple as two words - Natter Café. With cuisine that's made with the freshest, locally sourced produce and ingredients, Natter Café has a seasonal menu to tantalise your tastebuds.

Enjoy your favourite type of tea or a barista-made espresso coffee, skilfully prepared and served by a friendly team. At lunchtime, there's a range of refreshing beers and wines to complement your meal. If you're an Arvida resident or a Living Well or Moving Well member, you qualify for a 10% discount.

Events and activities

We host a diverse range of events, that cater to various interests. You don’t need to be a Good Friends member to participate in these events. From informative talks with guest speakers, to engaging quiz nights, fashion shows, dance classes, safe driving courses, fall prevention workshops, elegant high tea gatherings, and enchanting concerts – we have something for everyone to enjoy.

The events room is also available for hire to groups at competitive rates and not-for-profit groups can hire the space for free. Subject to availability, the room can seat over 100 people or can be divided into two zones. Both spaces contain large format screens along, audio equipment can also be provided. Catering can also be provided by the Natter Café.


Speciality gym, pool and spa

The centre provides personalised programmes and fitness classes specifically for older people.

The gym uses equipment that incorporates smooth air technology to harness the natural muscular movement of your body, resulting in a safer and highly effective exercise experience. This innovative approach makes our gym suitable for older adults who want to stay strong and active. All personalised programmes are digitally enabled so you're moving well membership card will activate and change the gym equipment to your tailored settings to get started - easy!

Next to the gym, you’ll find a 15-metre swimming pool that's 1.3 metres deep and heated to a comfortable temperature ranging between 29°C to 30°C. There's also a large spa pool consistently at 38°C throughout the year. The showers and changing rooms are designed for full accessibility, ensuring a comfortable and inclusive experience.  

Gaining access to the gym, swimming pool and spa requires a Moving Well membership.

The swimming pool is accredited under the Quality Pools Certification with Recreation Aotearoa.

Physiotherapy Services

On the Go Physio

WELLBEING SERVICES CHRISTCHURCH ONLY

On the Go Physio specialise in physiotherapy for older adults and those living with neurological conditions. Their team of experts can provide comprehensive care that addresses a range of conditions such as Parkinson’s, stroke, arthritis, joint replacement, dizziness, lymphoedema, and vascular disease.

They can also offer support for some of the general factors often associated with aging such as changes in strength, balance, and physical injury. With On the Go Physio on your side, you can get back to doing the things you love.

  • Weekdays: Every half hour until 9.53pm (leaving from bus stop outside LWC)
  • Saturdays: Every hour from 8am-10pm
  • Sundays: Every hour

120 SPREYDON – BURNSIDE

  • Weekdays: Every 30 mins until 9.48pm (leaving from bus stop outside LWC)
  • Saturdays: Every hour from 7.48am – 10.48pm
  • Sundays: Every hour

ORBITER CLOCKWISE

  • Weekdays: Every 10 mins until 7.45pm (then every 30 mins until midnight)
  • Saturdays: Every 10 mins until 9.30pm (then 30 mins until midnight)
  • Sundays: Every 30 mins

Car parking

There is car parking, including mobility parking, available at the Centre and some available off Show Place. The entrance to the Centre is at 47 Whiteleigh Avenue, marked by a large totem sign. If you park off Show Place please follow the signs to the carpark and park in marked spaces, simply come through the gate in the fence to access the Centre. Whiteleigh Avenue is busy, please take care and allow extra time to get to your activity on time.
